Me & Photography
Ahmed Al-Shukaili is an Omani photographer based in Oman (Muscat) born in the town of Nizwa in 1981. Started photography mid-2006 when I owned my first (used) Nikon D70. And since then I have been fascinated by the world of light. I have started by photographing basically everything that I come across. Year after years I started sharpening my skills in photography by practice and self-learning. Being in Oman is a bless as I have great opportunities for landscapes and people photography.
In People photography I think I am lucky to live in a country that's rich in culture, heritage and history. I have great pleasure photographing people, mainly faces (close portraits) and also part of people's life and activities. I still do take portraits occasionally and my preference is for the Beduin (Nomads) society in the country. Their unique life style and facial expressions still and will always invite me to shoot them.

Nevertheless, landscape photography is dominating my photography passion recently, I see my self moving to landscape photography nowadays and I believe Oman's unique landscapes has given me the opportunity to vary in my photos between coastal photos (majority), desert & sand dune, mountains and wadis. Nature has its unique way to invite you to capture it, I still find my self absorbed in it lately and I believe landscapes will by my first choice always in photography. And I will always be a student of light, learning how to grasp the opportunities the universe has to offer.
